Backin' tapes .. surely not !

(Taken from the tails website !)

Samplers.? - The Myth and The Reality
A lot has been written about the Tigertailz Live sound and the use of so called ?backing tapes? or ?Samplers? which certain people believe have all the bands instruments & Vocal parts playing on them at Live shows. This is certainly NOT and has NEVER been the case!|

The truth behind this misconception is that The Tailz (along with just about evey other professional Rock band) use either a Sampler/Mini Disc/IPOD to hold certain Keyboard or Synth parts and a small amount of Backing Vocals. These instrument or Backing Vocal parts are Sequenced with a ?Click Track? that Mathew Blackout plays along with and they play at certain parts of the songs to add weight and effect which produces the massive Tailz Live sound. These small parts are the only things that are stored on the Digital device (Sampler / Mini Disc / IPOD etc.). All Tailz instruments / Vocals are played and sung Live ? No question!

The Keyboard / Synth parts are recorded purely and simply so the Tailz don?t have to take a Keyboard player out on the road with them. They used to employ a Keyboard player to play these few effects but this wasn?t cost-effective. As for the Backing Vocal parts, these are made up of just Kim?s voice which he tracks 4-6 times on bridges and choruses of the Tailz songs ? Jay and Pepsi sing their harmony parts over the top, all LIVE!!! The reason for the extra Kim Backing Vocals is just to get the massive Tailz chorus sound in a Live situation.

This is used to try and emulate the sound from The Tailz albums which use upwards of 50-100 Backing Vocal voices which give the band their massive sound. Trying to create this in a Live situation with just Kim, Pepsi and Jay singing is impossible.

Many major Rock bands use this approach and it?s nothing new. Def Leppard, Queensryche, Feeder, Kiss, Aerosmith etc. all use this method to deliver their Live show ? some even go a lot further and use the Digital device to play all sorts of things like extra Guitar parts, Drums, Percussion etc. Tigertailz use this method purely to enhance the Backing vocals and negate the need to employ a Keyboard player on the road.

So there it is, no mystery, no conspiracy, just a simple way to deliver the best Live show possible to you the fans who pay your hard earned money to come and see The Tailz

i hope that blittz and c. really will repack all their stuff and found a forgotten unreleased demo to add it to the new cd ;-D

plus i'd really like to hear a proper new faster pussycat album (i mean no industrial stuff,no "modern" sound like the 2 tracks on my space, only sleaze r'n'r like their first 2 albums). also i'd like to hear a good version of their crappy sounding demotape track "slap in the face"

I never questioned the music being backed, but anybody who has heard the live "Living Without You" knows they back the backing vocals. They just sound freakish.

As for a new Toilet Boys, didn't they throw in the towel a few years ago? I could swear they are 100% dead. I could be wrong, and hope I am.

I talked to Eddie a few weeks ago and he told me that the Toilet Boys are going to play again even though they all have other projects (he's playing with Psychic TV these days.)
